Hamburger University training and career development is one part of McDonald's ongoing commitment to its employees and their professional growth. McDonald's employees at all levels have the opportunity to learn and excel within the organization.
Founded in the basement of a McDonald's restaurant located in Elk Grove, Ill., HU is now housed in a 130,000 square foot facility on an 80-acre campus located at McDonald's headquarters in Oak Brook, Ill. The state-of-the-art facility hosts 22 full-time international resident professors teaching students from more than 120 countries and includes: 17 teaching rooms; a 300-seat auditorium; four special team rooms for interactive education; a library; and translators able to provide simultaneous translation of more than 27 different languages.
HU trains nearly 9,000 students annually from across the globe. The management curriculum centers around business leadership practices, aligning restaurant operations with company goals and ensuring managers are fully equipped to run their restaurant's business. HU training is eligible for 46 college credits transferable for an associate's or bachelor's degree.
McDonald's is the only restaurant organization to receive credit recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE).
